What the developers announced
The May 13, 2026 development report followed Frostrail’s first closed playtest. The team said it had received more than 100,000 applications and could not grant access to everyone. That number counts applications, not admitted players. The developers described bug reports ranging from small issues to more significant problems, said dozens had already been addressed, and explained that player feedback often matched features the team wanted to develop.
Relics and equipment maintenance
The update connects exploration with preparation aboard the train. Relics found in dungeons can be activated aboard for temporary buffs, while dedicated repair workstations support a reworked item-maintenance system. New clothing sets and enemy variations were also described. Together, these additions expand the situations and equipment around an expedition; the announcement does not supply an item database or balance values.
What this means for understanding the game
The report also describes tutorial objectives, progression carried between levels, multiple-exit levels, and improvements to dungeons and tundra. One travel-related change is especially useful for understanding the train: defense encounters were integrated directly into obstacle-clearing gameplay. The following table connects each announced change with the part of the game it helps explain.
| Announced change | What it connects | Related guide |
|---|---|---|
| New tutorial level and objectives | The opening experience with learning the systems. | Progression |
| Progression between levels; levels with multiple exits | Progress with movement between parts of the journey. | Gameplay |
| Modular dungeon assets, lighting and tundra additions | Underground and surface exploration environments. | Locations |
| Defense encounters during obstacle clearing | Protecting the train with continuing along the route. | Train defense |
| Dungeon Relics activated aboard | Exploration discoveries with temporary journey buffs. | Relics |
| Dedicated repair workstations | Maintaining equipment alongside crafting new gear. | Equipment repair |
Development progress is not release availability
These are the team’s development statements from May 13, 2026. They do not establish that every feature appeared unchanged in a later test or release. The post anticipated more testing without giving a new date; later events are documented in the release timeline. Check official access for the separate question of playing now.
